Newcastle’s Injury Crisis Deepens Ahead of Crucial Everton Clash

Trippier In Contention for Everton Game

Newcastle United captain Kieran Trippier is in contention to return from injury for his side’s Premier League encounter with Everton on Tuesday night, boss Eddie Howe has confirmed. The right-back has been sidelined with a calf injury since their victory at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers in early March. Howe stressed the importance of taking a careful approach to easing Trippier back into action, acknowledging the player’s eagerness to contribute to the team’s efforts towards securing European football.

“He’s desperate to be involved, he knows what’s at stake for us towards the end of the season and his qualities are obvious. We’re desperate to have him back but it has to be at the right time,” Howe remarked.

Newcastle’s Growing Injury List

Howe’s update on Trippier’s recovery comes at a crucial time as Newcastle faces a growing list of injuries, particularly in their defensive ranks. Both Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles have been ruled out for the rest of the season with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, significantly impacting the team’s defensive capabilities.

Additionally, Miguel Almiron, Lewis Miley, Joelinton, Nick Pope, Callum Wilson, and Tino Livramento are all sidelined due to various injuries. To compound the team’s challenges, Anthony Gordon’s red card against West Ham means he will miss the upcoming clash against Everton, while Sandro Tonali’s suspension further depletes the squad’s options.

As Newcastle United gears up for the final stretch of the season, the team’s resilience and depth will be put to the test. With European football still within reach, the Magpies must navigate their injury crisis and secure crucial points in their quest for a top-seven finish.
