(livesinsight.com) – Before the Met Gala on Monday, the most watched fashion event of the year was likely the “Dune: Part Two” press tour. Attending each premiere were several fashionable actresses the internet has taken to calling “mother”: Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rebecca Ferguson. Only one of them was an actual mother. Ms. Ferguson reminded me of this on Sunday, when she called from her hotel hallway. She had stepped out of her room so that her 5-year-old daughter could sleep and discovered that the hallway bore an unsettling resemblance to the one in “The Shining.” Still, she didn’t feel like the “Dune” fashion-palooza had really prepared her for the Met Gala. “This is something that stands alone,” Ms. Ferguson said. “It’s a free bird of craziness.”

The Radiant Arrival of Rebecca Ferguson at the Met Gala

Rebecca Ferguson pulled out all the stops on Monday night as she hit the red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The actress, 40, looked nothing short of incredible in a figure-hugging black gown from Thom Browne, covered from head to toe in sequins. Rebecca first arrived wrapped up in a voluminous black cape, that covered her up to her neck. She then whipped the garment off to reveal her dazzling gown underneath and flash a glimpse at the blue lining of the cape. Both the lining and the skirt of her dress were decorated with black ravens, looking as if they were fighting in mid-flight. Further hitting this year’s dress theme of The Garden of Time, Rebecca’s dress was adorned with little beads to resemble flowers. Her dress also included gloves built in to add even more drama, while the Dune star slicked her hair back and kept her makeup simple to let her outfit do the talking.

An Artistic Fusion at The Met: The 2024 Exhibition

The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition falls on the first Monday in May every year and is held at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year the event is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion while the dress code is The Garden of Time. Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth are this year’s co-chairs. Also on the committee is Vogue’s Anna Wintour. The honorary chairs for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew. ‘This year’s co-chairs reflect a variety of career achievements and all have distinct style histories with the Met Gala,’ Vogue shared. The showcase will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection – with many of the pieces too fragile to ever be worn again. The pieces will all be displayed using elements such as AI, CGI, and more while playing up themes of land, sea, and sky. ‘It is very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,’ said Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, of the upcoming exhibition. ‘One thing I hope this show will activate is that sensorial appreciation of fashion.’ Guests expected to attend include the Kardashians, Blake Lively, Hailey Bieber, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Timothee Chalamet. Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony, and Ashley Graham are hosting while YouTuber Emma Chamberlain is expected to interview stars on the red carpet. Last year’s gala honored late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
